Reflecting on the Year

2016 is coming to an end.  It's been a long and challenging year.  So many things to worry about with family and life and it's been another crazy year.  As it is coming to an end, it is nice to look back at everything we've been thrown at us and how far we've come to overcome all the tough times, exceptionally stressful times and come out stronger than ever.

There are moments when we reflect at how much the boys push the limits as far as patience and sometimes seeing the ugliness that shows up in ourselves that we never knew we had hidden. But it never changes that we all push through and find the glimmer of smiles somewhere. Even the smallest light is a light that shines through all the tough situations.

Earlier this year we took a quick break from work to drive to Huntington Beach to get out of the house

We have been through so many obstacles and it helps so much when it comes to standing strong together when things are extremely hard. Whether it's financially, emotionally, or the immense amount of work that piles up, we have become a pretty formidable team (kids included) when it comes to everyday life. It's been so hectic and nonstop everyday has been filled with work after work. 18+ hour days and no day off. Kids help us whenever they can and it's nice to see them learn new things.  But we always manage to fit in time, even a short amount, to smile and even share a few moments with friends from out of town.  Even if it was a quick minute, it is always nice to see friends even if it mostly work related hahahahah =)  We keep hoping to find even an hour to have a quick date since we never get to spend any time together outside of work and work meetings..every spare moment we get we try to do something with the boys so they get QT but then we end up never having time to spare for ourselves..we have our sights set on the near future when time frees up a little...=)

We're gearing up for a pretty hectic January but looking forward to the time we do get to do road trips and camping!  We have big plans this coming year. Can't wait for all the activities we'd like to do as a family. And spend more quality time enjoying the good moments. The boys need more outdoor time and we do too. Reconnecting with nature is so important and disconnecting from the world of electronics is even more important.

Oh how I love Chicago. We only had one day to explore there but it was lovely. Well, we had a night before work to explore a little. Work all day the next day. Then have one full day to explore. As much as I wish we had more time and could afford to have two or three days in a city to explore, I'm grateful we even had one day to do that. Lucky my mom was visiting and could watch the boys for a couple days to get work done. And for my good friend from Lulu who came and helped out for a night. What would we do without everyone in our lives?

We are not very touristy. Sometimes I wish one of us was into all the tourist things to do because then we'd have a better plan but we both never have any ideas what we want to do when we go to a city. We do love to eat so we always try to find little gems that are must eats in the cities. Preferably little hole in the wall places. Other Han that we just end up walking around the city and exploring. Seeing the architecture and stopping for a coffee or snack along the way. We both loved Chicago a lot. It was gorgeous and very diverse. We did go to Cloud Gate at Milennium Park. We stayed for a few minutes with a friend but then off we went.

The weather was cold but we knew hard going there. There was a character to the city that was much different from New York. We couldn't put our finger on it but we found it to be very appealing and inviting. We definitely want to go back again with the boys and have them experience it. Maybe it was the waft of slightly burnt  chocolate chip cookies that we would smell around every corner that was inviting. Hahaha. We tried to figure out what the smell was and googled it. Seemed no one had a definite answer but it came down to a possibility that it was a chocolate factory on kinzie street.

The deep dish pizza was not exactly our favorite but did try it and it was yummy. Just not the kind of pizza I prefer.  We DID take a quick dinner break while working to walk to Little Goat Diner which was absolutely fuckin amazing. If there was one place we have to return to again, it would be there. The place was cozy and busy and our server Anthony was the best. I'd ask for his table again for sure =)

I realize it's been months since my last post and I do hope to get back to the groove. More about food and cooking and traveling. We just have had so much happening and no downtime this year. The boys have had lots going on too and we just find it hard to even sit down and relax for an hour every night without passing out to repeat the day. Hahahaha.

Work Work

This last month has been non stop work. 15 hour days filled with my regular work and working on projects with mat. Thankful his mom came to help watch the kids so we could go straight from my work to the job site everyday. She's amazingly sweet and it was nice having her here. Wish our little apartment was bigger to make it more comfortable for everyone but it works.

We've finish most of the crazy stuff and are slowly trying to get organized again. Everytime we get close to figuring out a schedule, things get thrown in the air. It's been hard to find balance between work and life and we've had no downtime for catching up with each other. Can't wait for those time.

We did take a day break before she left to take her out to see he beach and green up north. It was nice to be back Ito morro bay. Halfway through the roadtrip I had an anxiety attack from being in the backseat with the kids. I am not good with small close spaces and I felt bad because my mood and attitude aren't the best when it starts. His mom was sweet and offered to sit in the back so I could be comfortable. I felt so bad for being so miserable. We got to see sea otters at the Rock which was a surprise. It was so cute. There was a mama otter on her back with the baby on her belly floating around. One day we hope to keep driving further north. Time is always against us with work. Lol.

Year of Growth

As hectic as every day has been, we are grateful for the special things we share together.

Love has been the sweetest and surprising me with cute notes and coffee when he gets the chance to make a quick hello between work.

We had non stop days for the last few months.  Between changing jobs and making time after work for work on production and projects with mat, we've been hectic. Lots of ups and downs in that world of work, and lots or learnings for us both. But as crazy as it's been, we've grown and grown so much. The best part is, we both are so much alike that we always want to work on the things we need for the both of us. That's a big big deal to me. Knowing that someone is always standing by your side. Right or wrong and making it right and always wanting to work on anything and everything. He's amazing. He's also taught me that I can't always worry about what will happen. When I asked for three days off from work to work on a project with him, I kept feeling guilty and that I may look like a bad worker or something. Or what will happen if I end up working on more projects and need more time off this year like we have plans. I like my job but it's not where I'll be forever. At least I don't think so. Hahaha. It's pretty rad. I get to learn new things and see aircraft parts. ❤️ But Our future goals is for me to work less and we make more money on projects so our business will be a real one and we would be able to work full time on projects. He's taught me that I need to not worry about what will come and may happen we can deal with it as it comes. Easy for people to say and I always know that but couldn't really do it. Normally, I'd be worried and just feeling bad all the time wondering if I am inconveniencing others. This time it lasted two days and I was like fuck it. It is what it is. My future will be what it is. And felt good about it. =)

We've worked on the boys too. Trying to make the best of the little time we have together to make family time well worth it. It's tough when they are going through their growing changes and testing us left and right!!  But we've been learning and getting frustrated and stressed but all in all its been good to see how we try different ideas and figure out what works.
The kids have been loving the kitchen time. Master chef junior days in the kitchen have been fun.

We've also been lucky that my sister and her hubby moved from Virginia to California last month. They live almost 2 hours away but it's still nice that we get to visit with them once in a while. The kids love hanging out with them.

Life has a way of testing us but we always make it through. I cannot wait to see what this year will unfold. I'm sure lots of obstacles but also amazing things.
Some days have been tough. Mentally and physically. But we sure know who to get through a lot.

Awesome Start..2016

So many changes since last time I wrote.

Lots to be grateful for and I am really lucky. New job that is pretty awesome, learning to be less constantly moving and working at double time is a challenge but it helps in our personal life as well. Seeing that not everything needs to be done in the day like I've always been. Trying to slow down a bit and not stress myself out. It helps to lessen some of the extra stress at home as well. At least it takes a little off the crazy we have on our plate everyday.

Last day at lulu. Miss my expedite team so much but my new job also kicks ass =)

My new job is pretty rad

Seeing that we can try new methods with the kids has helped too. The kids and Mat have been on an awesome early start since I have early starts. Trying to be healthier and it's been a great family bonding for them.  We are all so lucky to have him. And it's been so nice to know how much he means to the kids as well.

We've been through a lot of stuff lately and we've had to learn to change and grow. Learn to work on things and focus on now because we have so much on our plates and we can't ever find time for anything but work. We lost ourselves for a while. Granted we have had one thing after another thrown at us. So glad I have him. We balance each other in ways I cannot explain.

Bearded beats lol

Kids have gotten obsessed with master chef junior. They've always loved cooking but it's now even more so. Can't wait til they get bigger and can do things on their own without our help =)

So much to say but not enough time to type. Will go into depth on a later date one subject at a time I suppose. Xoxo
